I've shot plenty of powwows in my day and I can always count on these two things happening: it will start late (even the people who run it joke about what they call "Indian time") and I'll hear the drumming in my head long after the powwow is over. The ancient music is mysterious and powerful.
I put together a slideshow using sound and photos I took at a powwow yesterday. Check it out here but don't blame me if you start chanting and banging on things loudly. It's contagious.
